Description For Production Services Engineer, Employee Experience & Productivity

Apple's IS&T Broadcast Services team is seeking a broadcast systems engineer to join their dynamic team. This role is crucial in engineering projects and supporting live broadcast events. You'll work on various aspects of their broadcasting and live streaming platform, including production, encoding, transcoding, packing, delivery, playback, and analytics.

The position offers an opportunity to work with cutting-edge broadcasting and streaming technologies, implementing scalable solutions using various frameworks. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, handle production and transmission activities, and ensure smooth operations of broadcast systems.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in broadcast engineering, familiarity with streaming protocols (HLS, DASH, RTMP), and video codecs (H.264, HEVC). Knowledge of AWS media services and automation tools is highly valued. The role requires flexibility for 24/7 emergency response and occasional travel.

Responsibilities For Production Services Engineer, Employee Experience & Productivity

  • Develop, test and support scalable and reliable broadcasting and live streaming solutions
  • Work with multiple internal and cross functional teams to understand systems, workflows, and issues
  • Provide support for Production, Post-Production, Transmission activities
  • Resolve issues and escalate to appropriate teams when needed
  • Update documentation and standard operating procedures
  • Provide setup and configuration assistance for broadcast control room production equipment
  • Work within a 24x7 emergency response as needed
  • Limited travel as required

Requirements For Production Services Engineer, Employee Experience & Productivity

  • Experience in broadcast and streaming engineering and operations
  • Experience with broadcasting and live streaming protocols (HLS, DASH, RTMP)
  • Experience with video and audio code (H.264, HEVC, AAC)
  • Bachelor's degree with relevant field experience
  • Good understanding of AWS media services
  • Experience with automation tools and scripts
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
