Apple is seeking a Reliability Engineer Lead for Custom Silicon Management to join their Silicon Technologies group. This role involves designing and manufacturing next-generation, high-performance, power-efficient processors and system-on-chip (SoC) solutions. The ideal candidate will lead the introduction and qualification of new products, working closely with multi-functional groups and third parties to ensure high quality.
Key responsibilities include:
- Driving requirements and execution of product, process, and package qualification
- Leading Design for Reliability and Design for Test initiatives
- Overseeing qualification preparation, including material selection, testing configurations, and lifetime estimation
- Implementing process flows and workmanship standards
- Conducting First Article Inspections (FAI)
- Investigating and resolving qualification issues and product/process nonconformances
- Supporting PCN/ECN activities and conducting supplier audits
- Performing yield analysis and driving supplier improvements
The role requires a BS degree with 10+ years of industry experience, preferably 15+ years in semiconductor engineering focusing on Reliability and/or Quality/Product Engineering. Knowledge of JEDEC standards, ISO, and silicon product reliability qualification is essential. The position involves travel and offers a competitive salary range of $175,800 to $312,200, along with benefits including stock options, medical coverage, and educational reimbursement.

Responsibilities For Reliability Engineer Lead – Custom Silicon Management
- Drive requirements and execution of products, process and package qualification
- Lead Design for Reliability and Design for Test initiatives
- Oversee qualification preparation, including material selection and testing configurations
- Implement process flows and workmanship standards
- Perform First Article Inspections (FAI)
- Investigate and resolve qualification issues and nonconformances
- Support PCN or ECN activities
- Conduct supplier audits when needed
- Perform yield analysis and correlation analysis
- Drive supplier improvements
Requirements For Reliability Engineer Lead – Custom Silicon Management
- BS degree and 10 years of industry experience
- Experience in JEDEC reliability and quality related standards, ISO, and the science behind them
- Willingness to travel as required for the role
- 15+ years of semiconductor engineering in Reliability and/or Quality/Product Engineering (preferred)
- Experience with silicon product level reliability qualification and lifetime behavior model (preferred)
- Prior experience defining hardware setups and equipment for various tests (preferred)
- Validated auditing of supplier sites, materials and processes (preferred)
- Experience driving suppliers in silicon Fab process, packaging, assembly, test, and reliability monitoring (preferred)
- Familiarity with process flows, specifications, and supervising supplier performance (preferred)
- Knowledge of First Article Inspection (FAI) practices (preferred)
- Outstanding communication skills (preferred)
