Description For RFIC Design Engineer

Apple's wireless RFIC team is seeking a talented RFIC Design Engineer to join their innovative hardware division. This role sits at the heart of developing cutting-edge wireless SoC solutions that power hundreds of millions of Apple products worldwide. As part of the Wireless Radio team, you'll be instrumental in architecting, designing, and validating radio transceivers integrated into wireless SoCs.

The position offers an opportunity to work with a vertically integrated engineering team spanning multiple disciplines including RF/Analog architecture, Systems/PHY/MAC architecture, VLSI/RTL design, and more. You'll be responsible for pushing the boundaries of wireless technology, from concept to mass production, working on sophisticated projects that enhance product performance.

The role demands expertise in analog and RF circuit design, including experience with LNAs, PAs, PLL/VCO/DCO/LOGEN blocks, mixers, and baseband filters. You'll collaborate closely with various teams, from RF Systems to RFIC test engineers, ensuring optimal performance and successful productization of wireless connectivity chips.

Responsibilities For RFIC Design Engineer

  • Provide RFIC designs for wireless SoC and drive them to mass production
  • Design and deliver radio transceiver building blocks and chains, including TX, RX, and PLL-LOGen
  • Work with RF Systems on block-level and high-level specifications
  • Design of RF and Analog loopbacks for calibration and compensation
  • Work through Co-Existence scenarios and design to meet the CoEx requirements
  • Collaborate with RFIC test engineers in setup, debugging, and optimization
  • Provide design versus silicon measurements correlation

Requirements For RFIC Design Engineer

  • BS and 3+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Understanding of analog design concepts such as noise analysis, linearity, mismatch, stability
  • Experience with Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre RF, Matlab, EM simulation (EMX, HFSS)
  • RF/analog and mixed-signal design experience in ground-breaking RF CMOS design
  • Deep understanding of analog, mixed-signal, and RF circuit design
  • Experience in Silicon characterization and debugging
