SerDes Micro Architect

Apple's Analog Mixed-Signal (AMS) Team is seeking a self-motivated SERDES Micro Architect to drive the definition of next-generation IPs. The role involves defining the Micro Architecture of analog mixed-signal IPs with emphasis on SERDES design. You'll review firmware code, analog and digital circuits, and verify that the design meets performance requirements. Working with silicon evaluation and design verification teams, you'll define expected behavior and lead debug efforts in system bring-up and factory testing. Collaboration with signal integrity engineers to determine system requirements is also part of the job.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the definition of high-speed SERDES receiver, transmitter, and clocking blocks
• Applying deep understanding of adaptation and optimization algorithms
• Utilizing knowledge of communications and information theory
• Working with equalizers, timing recovery, and system identification
• Applying DSP concepts and applications
• Modeling mixed-signal systems using Python/MATLAB/C/C++
• Conducting system design and performance tradeoffs
• Using simulation tools for analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits
• Applying Machine Learning concepts
• Potentially working on firmware or embedded software development
