Apple's Data Center Engineering Team is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join their mission of collecting, analyzing, and optimizing IT and Data Center Infrastructure telemetry data. This role combines deep technical expertise with infrastructure management, focusing on making data meaningful and accessible to drive engineering decisions.
The position involves working with large-scale telemetry data across various infrastructure domains, including power, cooling, network, and IT assets. You'll be responsible for conducting in-depth quantitative analysis, ensuring data accuracy, and creating intuitive visualizations that enable informed decision-making.
As a Telemetry Data Engineer, you'll lead initiatives in device evaluation, implementation, and quality assurance while maintaining security compliance. Responsibilities For Telemetry Data Engineer, Infrastructure Services
- Work with large scale telemetry data across numerous infrastructure domains
- Lead and participate with team members in Data Center Infrastructure telemetry for power and cooling
- Collaborate across data center infrastructure platforms for data collection and analysis
- Own telemetry device evaluation, qualification, implementation, quality, and support
- Lead weekly reports, plans, and meetings with operations team
- Ensure telemetry devices are Information Security compliant
- Create documentation library for requirements, dashboards, algorithms, and scripts
- Cross validate telemetry to other infrastructure systems
Requirements For Telemetry Data Engineer, Infrastructure Services
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software or Computer Engineering, Statistics, or related field or equivalent experience
- 5+ year background in data science, or data visualization or statistical data analysis
- 3+ years of experience with at least one data science programming language such as Python
- Experience working with at least one database such as Postgres, MongoDB, Oracle, Redis, MySQL, Cassandra, Snowflake, DuckDB, etc.
