Description For Wireless RF PHY FW Engineer

Apple's Wireless Connectivity Silicon team is seeking a Wireless RF PHY FW Engineer to join their world-class engineering organization. This role is central to the development of wireless System on Chip (SoC) technologies that power Apple's innovative products. The position offers an opportunity to work on highly energy efficient designs and transformative technologies that directly impact hundreds of millions of users.

As a core member of the Wireless SoC firmware team, you'll be responsible for crafting and implementing embedded firmware for SoC bring-up and wireless connectivity enablement. The role involves close collaboration with product software and manufacturing teams to enable RF and PHY calibrations, algorithms, and testing for silicon/system productization.

The position requires expertise in embedded firmware development, wireless communication systems, and hardware interfaces. You'll work with state-of-the-art lab equipment and be involved in both pre-silicon validation and post-silicon bringup activities. The role offers competitive compensation, including base pay between $121,900 and $183,600, plus additional benefits such as stock options, comprehensive healthcare, and education reimbursement.

Responsibilities For Wireless RF PHY FW Engineer

  • Develop embedded firmware for SoC bring up and wireless connectivity
  • Work with product SW and manufacturing teams on system-level API
  • Develop SoC test and calibration capabilities
  • Collaborate with RF/Radio design teams on algorithms and protocols
  • Debug realtime systems with development boards
  • Support pre-silicon validation efforts
  • Support post-silicon bringup and system integration

Requirements For Wireless RF PHY FW Engineer

Python
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Strong background in embedded FW development using C and assembly languages
  • Experience with ARM CPUs and its internals
  • Understanding of embedded wireless communication systems
  • Experience with low-level hardware interfaces
  • Understanding of RTOS, concurrency, multi-processor systems
  • Proficiency in lab equipment usage (logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.)
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, Perl, or Tcl)
  • Excellent communication skills
