Description For Senior Manufacturing and Process Engineer

Apptronik is seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior Manufacturing and Process Engineer to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in designing, installing, and commissioning electro-mechanical assemblies, as well as a proven track record in managing high-volume production lines. This role is critical in supporting the production team by optimizing manufacturing processes, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring the seamless execution of new product introductions (NPI) and engineering changes.

Their team has been building some of the most advanced robots on the planet for years, dating back to the DARPA Robotics Challenge. They apply their expertise across the full robotics stack to some of the most important and impactful problems our society faces.

Key responsibilities include leading the design, development, and optimization of manufacturing processes for electro-mechanical assemblies, overseeing the installation and commissioning of new equipment, reducing product part count and/or BOM cost, and collaborating closely with design engineering, quality, and operations teams to address manufacturing challenges.

The ideal candidate should have strong technical skills in an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment, experience with DFX, FMEA, DOE, and continual process improvement, 3D CAD experience, and knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and DFMA principles. A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electronic, Mechanical Engineering, or relative experience is preferred.

Responsibilities For Senior Manufacturing and Process Engineer

  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of manufacturing processes for electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of new equipment, tooling, and fixtures
  • Reduce product part count and/or BOM cost
  • Identify and redesign machined (CNC) parts into single cast + post-processed part
  • Work with plastic manufacturing to create custom injection molded parts
  • Conduct manufacturing readiness assessments
  • Oversee and facilitate the transition of new products and processes from engineering to manufacturing and supply chain
  • Optimize Manufacturing Processes for Contract Manufacturing Partners
  • Coordinate and sustain activities with Contract Manufacturing Partners
  • Collaborate with design engineering, quality, and operations teams
  • Create and maintain detailed process documentation
  • Lead root cause analysis efforts for production issues and implement corrective actions

Requirements For Senior Manufacturing and Process Engineer

  • Capable of 'rolling up the sleeves' to play a lead role in developing, trialing, and refining assembly processes
  • Current technical skills in electro-mechanical manufacturing environment
  • Experience in DFX - (manufacturing, quality, sourcing, service and cost)
  • Experience with FMEA, DOE, and continual process improvement
  • 3D CAD experience
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, including assembly, machining, injection molding, and automation
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and DFMA principles
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electronic, Mechanical Engineering, or relative experience
  • 10+ years of proven experience in a production environment, with a focus on electro-mechanical assemblies
