Description For Engineer Who Can Design - Americas

Ashby is seeking an Engineer Who Can Design for the Americas region. This staff-level role requires at least 8 years of experience as a full-time frontend engineer or evenly split between frontend and design, with significant contributions to (or leading) design systems.

The ideal candidate will tackle challenging design problems, help improve others' designs, and work on expanding and enhancing Ashby's in-house design system. Examples of projects include redesigning the mobile web app, building flexible components for custom autocompletes, and improving information hierarchy in designs.

Ashby's engineering culture emphasizes collaboration, deliberate communication, and increasing leverage rather than team size. Engineers own projects end-to-end, from user interactions to product specs and UX design. The company values diversity and is taking steps to improve representation in their team.

The interview process consists of three rounds: an introduction call, a technical screen, and a virtual on-site. The first two months at Ashby focus on an exceptional onboarding experience, with new hires pushing their first change on day one and building up to delivering a prominent, impactful feature.

The tech stack includes TypeScript, React, SASS modules, Stitches, Apollo GraphQL, Node.js, Postgres, and Redis. Deep knowledge of React, CSS, and HTML is required for this role.

Benefits include competitive salary and equity, a 10-year exercise window for stock options, unlimited PTO, 12 weeks of paid family leave in the US, generous equipment and education budgets, and top-notch health insurance for US employees.

Ashby is committed to equal employment opportunities and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds, experiences, perspectives, and abilities.
