Description For Senior Software Engineer - Product

Ashby is seeking an ambitious Senior Software Engineer to join their product team, working on their innovative hiring software platform. The role offers a unique blend of early-stage and growth-stage startup environments, with notable customers including Notion, Linear, Shopify, and Snowflake. The company has achieved significant success with tens of millions in ARR and >100% year-over-year growth.

As a Product Engineer at Ashby, you'll have end-to-end ownership of significant product areas, wearing multiple hats across product management and design. The role involves minimal meetings (less than 2 hours per week) and focuses on delivering high-impact features. The engineering culture emphasizes autonomy, creativity, and practical problem-solving.

The technology stack includes TypeScript, Node.js, React, Apollo GraphQL, Postgres, and Redis, though prior experience with these specific technologies isn't required. The team values typed languages and maintains high code quality standards. The development environment is well-optimized with quick CI/CD pipelines and frequent deployments.

Ashby offers a supportive environment with a focus on work-life balance, including unlimited PTO (with a recommended 4 weeks per year), comprehensive health benefits, and generous equipment allowances. The company is committed to diversity and inclusion, currently having 26% of engineers from underrepresented groups and actively working to improve this ratio.

The interview process is designed to be practical and relevant, focusing on past projects and pair programming rather than algorithmic puzzles. New hires receive exceptional onboarding support, including a peer guide and gradual ramping up to impactful feature delivery.

This role is ideal for senior engineers who thrive with autonomy, enjoy full-stack development, and want to make a significant impact in a fast-growing startup while maintaining work-life balance.
