Founding AI Engineer

Asteroid is pioneering the development of mission control for AI agents, with a focus on browser automation for complex tasks. As the Founding AI Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of creating advanced AI-powered browser agents that transform how businesses handle automation.

The role offers complete ownership over greenfield LLM engineering projects, from research to deployment. You'll be responsible for agent architecture, prompt engineering, observability, evaluation, and scaling - turning cutting-edge AI research into practical, customer-ready solutions.

The company is led by David and Joe, both experienced AI engineers. David brings diverse experience in robotics and algorithms, while Joe has extensive background in LLM-based systems and built Netcraft's Scam Intelligence system. They're focused on integrating generally intelligent systems into the global economy.

You'll work with a modern tech stack including Go, TypeScript, Python, and Playwright, alongside AI tools from OpenAI, Anthropic, and HuggingFace. The infrastructure utilizes GCP, Docker, and Kubernetes. This is an opportunity to shape not just a product, but the future of AI automation.

The ideal candidate should have proven experience with LLM-based systems, strong evaluation capabilities, and the ability to translate customer feedback into technical improvements.
