Description For Radio Hardware Engineer — Associate Program (Spring 2025)

Astranis is on a mission to bridge the digital divide by connecting the four billion people worldwide who currently lack internet access. They're building the next generation of smaller, more cost-effective spacecraft to bring the world online. As a team, they've launched two satellites into orbit, signed ten commercial deals worth over $1 billion in revenue, raised over $500 million from top global investors, and recruited a team of over 300 world-class engineers.

The Radio Hardware Engineer — Associate Program position is designed for students who have already received a bachelor's degree or will have done so before working at Astranis. This 12-week salaried role offers an opportunity to work on challenging projects of equal importance and difficulty to those given to full-time employees. Past Associate Engineers have designed and tested hardware/software now flying on Astranis' first satellite, and many now work at Astranis full-time.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing, simulating, implementing, and testing internally developed software-defined radio hardware
  • Bringing up and debugging hardware in the lab with top-of-the-line instruments and equipment
  • Designing test equipment to validate designs across a wide range of stressed conditions
  • Writing code to help evaluate performance and automate testing of flight hardware
  • Integrating these systems into the spacecraft by working closely with the rest of the team

Requirements include a passion for hardware development, demonstrated ability to design, build, and test PCBA hardware from scratch, and a solid EE foundation in areas such as analog design, digital design, mixed-signal design, and RF design. US Citizenship or Green Card is required.

Bonus qualifications include experience with software-defined radios, PCB design software, analysis software, Python or similar programming languages, soldering and rework, and EE lab bench equipment.

The base salary for this position is $1750 per week. Astranis complies with U.S. Government space technology export regulations, requiring applicants to be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, or other protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3). The company is committed to diversity and inclusion, encouraging all people to join their team and bring their unique perspectives to help make them stronger.
