Astranis is seeking a Radio Hardware Engineer for their Associate Program in Summer 2025. This 12-week salaried position is designed for students who have or will have received a bachelor's degree before working at Astranis. As an Associate Engineer, you'll have the opportunity to work on challenging projects of equal importance to those given to full-time employees.
The role involves designing, simulating, implementing, and testing internally developed software-defined radio hardware. You'll be responsible for bringing up and debugging hardware in the lab using top-of-the-line instruments and equipment. You'll also design test equipment to validate designs across a wide range of stressed conditions, write code to evaluate performance and automate testing of flight hardware, and integrate these systems into spacecraft by working closely with the rest of the team.
Astranis has launched two satellites into orbit, signed ten commercial deals worth over $1 billion in revenue, raised over $500 million from top global investors, and recruited a team of over 300 world-class engineers. Their satellites, which operate from geostationary orbit (GEO), weigh only 400 kg and utilize a proprietary software-defined radio payload. Each satellite can connect over two million people, and they're excited about their upcoming impact in the Philippines, Peru, Mexico, and more.
The company offers a rewarding work environment where you'll learn and make a significant impact, regardless of your career stage. They work out of their San Francisco office, which was once used to build ships during the World Wars.
Requirements include a passion for hardware development, demonstrated ability to design, build, and test PCBA hardware from scratch, and a solid EE foundation in areas such as analog design, digital design, mixed signal design, or RF design. US Citizenship or Green Card is required to comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations.
Bonus qualifications include experience with software-defined radios, PCB design software, analysis software, Python programming, soldering and rework, and EE lab bench equipment.
The base salary for this position is $1750 per week, which translates to approximately $91,000 per year. Astranis is committed to diversity and inclusion, encouraging all people to join their team and bring their unique perspectives to help make them stronger.
