Description For Airflow Reliability Engineer

Astronomer, the company behind Astro, a leading DataOps platform powered by Airflow, is seeking an Airflow Reliability Engineer to join their Customer Reliability Engineering (CRE) team. This role offers a unique opportunity to become an Apache Airflow expert while working directly with customers to optimize their managed Airflow service usage.

As part of a globally-distributed, venture-backed team, you'll be at the forefront of helping organizations keep their mission-critical Airflow implementations running smoothly. The role combines deep technical expertise with customer-facing support, requiring both strong engineering skills and excellent communication abilities.

The position involves working with various aspects of modern cloud infrastructure, including Kubernetes, multiple cloud providers, and data engineering tools. You'll have the chance to contribute to open-source projects, develop internal systems, and directly impact product development through customer feedback.

Key responsibilities include providing expert-level Airflow support, troubleshooting complex technical issues, maintaining system reliability, and ensuring customer success. You'll work in a remote-first environment with a competitive salary range of $130,000-$160,000 plus equity.

The ideal candidate brings 4+ years of professional experience, strong Python skills, and experience with containerization and cloud platforms. While Airflow expertise is valuable, the company values diverse experiences and welcomes candidates from non-traditional backgrounds who demonstrate strong technical aptitude and a passion for learning.

This role offers extensive learning opportunities across multiple disciplines, including data engineering, cloud infrastructure, and customer relationship management. You'll be part of a sophisticated support team that handles complex technical challenges while maintaining high standards of customer service.
