Astronomer is seeking a Field Engineer, SWAT to join their globally-distributed team in delivering world-class technical solutions for customer and prospect business problems. This role sits at the intersection of technical implementation and customer success, focusing on Apache Airflow solutions.
The position offers a competitive compensation package ranging from $170,000 to $200,000, plus equity, and operates in a remote-first environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong Kubernetes experience, programming expertise, and excellent communication skills to help implement Astronomer's software in some of the world's largest businesses.
As a Field Engineer, you'll be responsible for guiding complex customers through their Apache Airflow journeys, acting as the crucial interface between customers, sales, and product teams. The role requires hands-on technical expertise with Kubernetes, cloud providers, and distributed systems, combined with strong customer-facing abilities.
The position is perfect for someone with 5+ years of data engineering experience who enjoys working with enterprise-level solutions. Responsibilities For Field Engineer, SWAT
- Implement Astronomer's software and services in core business operations
- Guide largest and most complex customers in Apache Airflow journeys
- Act as core interface between Customer, Sales, and Product
- Ensure platform solutions solve pain points and bring value to customers
Requirements For Field Engineer, SWAT
- Strong Kubernetes experience (GKE/EKS/AKS or OpenShift preferred)
- Expertise in at least one programming language
- Good understanding of network complexities and architectures
- Versatile Terminal and CLI user experience
- Experience setting up and troubleshooting distributed systems
- Experience with complex SaaS infrastructure operating at scale
- Experience with at least one major cloud provider API/tooling
- Ability to read code
- Work effectively with git
- Cloud-native data architecture experience
- Strong customer facing skills
- Strong oral and written communications skills
