Astronomer, the company behind Astro, a leading DataOps platform powered by Airflow, is seeking a Senior Infrastructure & Tooling Engineer for their Platform Services team. This role is crucial in delivering exceptional Airflow management experiences at scale. As part of the R&D team, you'll focus on providing stable infrastructure, release automation, and developer tooling.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a broad charter, where you'll contribute to improving developer productivity, managing Kubernetes infrastructure, and implementing security best practices. You'll be part of a globally-distributed, venture-backed team dedicated to empowering data teams and delivering mission-critical analytics.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of engineering experience with Linux and container-based infrastructure, along with expertise in languages like Golang or Python. You'll work in a remote-first environment, contributing to critical infrastructure components and helping teams implement SRE practices. Responsibilities For Senior Infrastructure & Tooling Engineer, Astro Platform Services

  • Identify and design solutions and tools to improve developer productivity
  • Optimize and evolve Kubernetes based infrastructure supporting Astro platform control planes
  • Diagnose and fix problems related to network and cloud infrastructure
  • Work with an SRE mindset, helping teams implement SLOs and synthetic testing
  • Work with security team to implement guardrails and least-privilege access models
