Astronomer is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with an infrastructure focus to join their R&D team. The role is centered on the dataplane management team, which designs, builds, and owns the infrastructure running customer workloads. You'll be working on software that powers automation and lifecycle management of hundreds of kubernetes clusters across clouds.
The position offers an opportunity to work on mission-critical features including workload identity, multitenancy, cross-region disaster recovery, cloud quota management, and private network access. You'll be contributing to Astro, their flagship product that enables data orchestration for major enterprises globally.

Working in this role, you'll collaborate closely with core runtime, platform, and other product teams. The ideal candidate should have strong experience with languages like Golang or Java, and knowledge of Kubernetes is highly valued. Additional experience with multi-cloud kubernetes management, high availability system design, and building cloud-based systems with service-oriented architectures would be particularly valuable.
The position offers competitive compensation ranging from $180,000 to $210,000, plus equity and comprehensive benefits. As a remote-first company, Astronomer provides flexibility in work location while maintaining a strong focus on collaboration and innovation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about infrastructure and eager to work on large-scale, complex distributed systems.
