Description For Senior Software Engineer - Infrastructure, India

Astronomer is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Infrastructure team for their Enterprise product, Astronomer Software. This role focuses on enhancing scalability, performance, and reliability of Apache Airflow at scale. The position requires deep expertise in container orchestration (Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, Openshift).

As a key member of the R&D team, you'll work on minimizing operational overhead and streamlining infrastructure for on-premise installations. The role involves close collaboration with CRE, Platform, and QA teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives. You'll be responsible for implementing robust security measures and utilizing monitoring tools like ELK and Prometheus to optimize system performance.

Responsibilities For Senior Software Engineer - Infrastructure, India

  • Serve as primary point responsible for platform health, performance, and capacity
  • Assist in roll-out and deployment of new product features and installations
  • Develop tools to improve deployment and monitoring in large-scale environments
  • Work with development teams to ensure platform operability
  • Lead efforts to improve automation
  • Perform root cause analysis and document post-mortems
  • Write and maintain system documentation
  • Participate in on-call rotation with customers

  • Experience managing distributed systems in major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Strong experience with Continuous Integration systems

  • Automation/Scripting experience with Shell, Python, or similar
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
