Astronomer, the company behind Astro, an industry-leading DataOps platform powered by Airflow, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for their Office of the CTO. This unique role functions as a 'hacker in residence,' focusing on experimenting with new ideas and building prototypes, particularly in the realm of Generative AI's impact on data professionals. The position offers the freedom to explore big ideas and validate concepts using various technologies.

The role involves working with the R&D team to shape the future of Apache Airflow management at scale. As a generalist, you'll work with diverse technologies, tools, and programming languages to validate ideas and potentially transform them into customer-facing features. There's a strong emphasis on how AI will evolve from human-driven copilot to autonomous agents over the next 3-5 years.

The ideal candidate brings significant software product development experience, strong communication skills, and a willingness to challenge conventional wisdom. While experience with Go, Python, and React/TypeScript is valuable, we're more interested in your ability to learn and adapt to new technologies. The role offers competitive compensation ($180,000-$210,000) plus equity, and the opportunity to work with a globally-distributed, venture-backed team of innovators.
