Description For Solutions Engineer, Data Engineering

Astronomer is seeking a Solutions Engineer to join their Global Services Delivery Team, focusing on implementing Apache Airflow solutions across diverse customer organizations. This role combines technical expertise with customer-facing responsibilities, requiring deep knowledge of both Apache Airflow and Astronomer Products. The position offers a hybrid work model, requiring 3 days per week in the Hyderabad office.

As a Solutions Engineer, you'll become an Airflow expert and trusted advisor, helping organizations optimize their data workflows. You'll work with customers ranging from startups to Fortune 500 enterprises, implementing best practices and ensuring successful Airflow deployment. The role involves maintaining technical expertise, guiding customers on Airflow best practices, performing code refactoring assessments, and collaborating on engineering solutions.

The ideal candidate brings 3-6 years of data engineering experience, particularly with Apache Airflow in production environments. Strong Python skills and experience with DAGs, custom operators, and hooks are essential. Knowledge of modern data stack technologies, including cloud platforms and ETL/ELT processes, is crucial. The role requires excellent communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.

Responsibilities For Solutions Engineer, Data Engineering

  • Maintain and improve technical expertise in Airflow and Astronomer's managed Airflow Platform
  • Work with customers to educate and guide them regarding Airflow best practices
  • Perform Airflow code refactoring assessments
  • Collaborate on designing, prototyping, and implementing engineering solutions
  • Act as a liaison collecting feedback and identifying improvements
  • Review and optimize customer data workflows and Airflow system configurations

Requirements For Solutions Engineer, Data Engineering

  • 3-6 years of data-engineering experience with Apache Airflow in production environments
  • Experience creating DAGs, writing Python, and building Airflow custom operators and hooks
  • Knowledge of ETL/ELT pipelines and data transformations
  • Experience with products like Cloudera, Databricks, Snowflake, DBT, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
