We're seeking an Opto-Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Boulder, CO. This role combines hands-on engineering with cutting-edge quantum technology development.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a team of scientists and engineers, designing and implementing crucial opto-mechanical subsystems. You'll be involved in everything from laser distribution to high numerical aperture microscope imaging and optical cavities. The role requires both technical expertise and practical skills, as you'll be working on both design and implementation.

Responsibilities For Opto-Mechanical Engineer

  • Partner with optical engineers and physicists to design mechanics for optical subsystems
  • Design ultra high vacuum chambers and mechanical coupling to optical systems
  • Analyze and make recommendations to balance competing requirements
  • Create novel designs and specifications from component to system level
  • Perform detailed stability, thermal, and tolerance analysis
  • Assist in hands-on assembly and precision alignment of finalized designs

Requirements For Opto-Mechanical Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (advanced degree is a plus)
  • 3-5+ years opto-mechanical design experience
  • Experience with Solidworks, PDM, or equivalent design software
  • Experience with FEA and first order analysis
  • Understanding of material science related to adhesives in optical environment
  • DFMA, tolerancing, drawings to ASME Y14.5M and ISO 10110
  • Basic knowledge of first order optics and aberration theory
  • Design of precision mechanisms and kinematic systems
  • Capable of lifting and moving objects up to 25 pounds
