Description For Staff Electrochemical Engineer

Atomic Machines is revolutionizing micromanufacturing with its innovative Matter Compiler (MC) technology. This groundbreaking platform enables the creation of new classes of micromachines through a digital, multi-process, multi-material approach that surpasses traditional semiconductor manufacturing limitations. Located in Berkeley and Santa Clara, California, the company is at the forefront of MEMS manufacturing innovation.

As a Staff Electrochemical Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in designing novel chemical-based fabrication workflows for market-defining commercial devices. This position, based in Berkeley, reports to the Director of Process Engineering and requires a deep understanding of electrochemistry and materials science. You'll be responsible for developing high-performance microsystems through hands-on experience with electrolyte formulation, electrochemical processing, and materials characterization.

The role combines theoretical knowledge with practical application, requiring expertise in both conventional and novel etching and plating techniques. You'll be instrumental in translating processes from concept to prototype and finally to scale production on our digital, autonomous manufacturing platform. This position offers the unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology while contributing to the development of entirely new device classes.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience, strong leadership abilities, and a proven track record in electrochemical engineering. You'll be part of a dynamic team pushing the boundaries of micromanufacturing, with the opportunity to mentor others and shape the future of the technology. The position offers competitive compensation, including a salary range of $185,000-$230,000, plus equity and benefits, reflecting the senior nature of the role and its importance to the company's mission.
