Description For Senior Software Engineer - Simulation Applications

Aurora is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for their Simulation Applications team. This role is integral to the safety and validation of Aurora's autonomous vehicles and accelerating autonomy development. The successful candidate will build intuitive and interactive frontend components for creating and visualizing simulation scenarios, own large cross-functional feature development, and collaborate with diverse teams including web application engineers, product and UX designers, simulation engineers, and autonomy developers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing innovative solutions to increase the quality, quantity, and breadth of simulations
  • Building and integrating scalable services to process simulation, map, and autonomy data
  • Utilizing and contributing to core 4D web visualization libraries
  • Collaborating across teams to share knowledge and build shared libraries

The ideal candidate should have:

  • 5+ years of industry experience with a degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Strong foundation in modern JavaScript frameworks/libraries (TypeScript, React, Mobx/MST, MUI, Emotion, ReactQuery, WebgRPC)
  • Experience with backend technologies (REST, gRPC, Python/Flask, Kubernetes, AWS)
  • Ability to own large cross-functional feature development
  • Excellent judgment in making tradeoffs between speed, quality, and scalability
  • Passion for continuous learning and improvement
