Description For Senior Systems Engineer - Hardware Systems

Aurora is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for their Hardware Systems team. The role involves defining requirements at system, subsystem, and hardware module levels, focusing on Thermal and allied systems. Key responsibilities include driving technical discussions, managing requirement traceability, developing system FMEAs, facilitating cross-functional system development activities, and executing system-level testing. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in systems engineering, test planning and execution, and the ability to quickly understand system architecture and product specifications. Experience in autonomous driving technology and robotics is desirable. The role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Aurora offers a competitive salary range of $141,000 - $211,000 per year, along with bonus eligibility, equity compensation, and benefits. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Mechatronics, or Computer Science Engineering with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience. They should have at least 2 years of industry experience in systems engineering and system test planning and execution. Familiarity with automotive design, qualification, validation, and reliability requirements is a plus.

Responsibilities For Senior Systems Engineer - Hardware Systems

  • Define requirements at system, subsystem and hardware module level
  • Act as an owner for driving technical discussions and ensuring alignment on functional requirements
  • Define requirements by providing reasonable rationale using first principles and data analysis
  • Manage requirement traceability and decomposition
  • Manage requirements change control, change propagation, and releases
  • Develop system FMEAs to drive requirement gap analysis
  • Write design documents to evaluate new features/architecture
  • Facilitate cross-functional system development activities
  • Develop verification and validation test plans
  • Execute system level testing and perform log analysis
  • Prepare and present technical reports for management

Requirements For Senior Systems Engineer - Hardware Systems

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Mechatronics, or Computer Science Engineering and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
  • 2+ years of industry experience in systems engineering
  • 2+ years of industry experience in system test planning and execution (verification and validation)
  • Strong organizational abilities to drive and manage requirements end to end
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Strong experience in generating system and module level requirements, functional decomposition, dFMEAs and MSRs
  • Ability to complete system analyzes and recommend path forward using structured design documents
  • Ability to quickly gain a deep understanding of system architecture and product specifications
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
