Description For Network Development Engineer, BERE Operations

AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Network Development Engineer to join their Backbone Enterprise and Regional Engineering (BERE) team within the GCNA Organization. This role is crucial in maintaining and developing one of the world's largest networks that supports AWS's global infrastructure.

The position involves working with network and Unix systems engineering to deliver simple, sustainable, and repeatable solutions. You'll be responsible for driving the stability and sustainability of next-generation IP networks, working on configurations standards and tools, and collaborating with Systems and Software Engineers to ensure fast, smooth roll-out of new designs and products.

As part of the GCNA (Global Connectivity and Network Availability) Organization, you'll work on the backbone that connects the global AWS network, controlling internet traffic that allows users to access their information and applications worldwide. The role involves high-quality network operations, deployments, scaling, and technology refresh, while working closely with automation teams to develop tools for higher volume scaling.

The position offers competitive compensation ranging from $102,700 to $185,000 per year, depending on location and experience. Responsibilities For Network Development Engineer, BERE Operations

  • Create and implement changes on the network
  • Work with automation teams in defining scaling tools
  • Lead network projects in sustaining engineering, deployment, and optimization
  • Provide critical network support for AWS customers
  • Operate and troubleshoot network routing and configurations
  • Drive innovation from Top of Rack to Network Border
  • Partner with Network/Infrastructure organization
  • Maintain networking standards and ensure compliance
  • Create and review network documentation and processes

Requirements For Network Development Engineer, BERE Operations

  • Experience with programming languages such as C/C++, Python, Java or Perl
  • Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals such as BGP, OSPF and other R&S technologies
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking, IP routing, Server Load Balancing
  • Knowledge of Network Security architecture and core technologies
  • Ability to work in a 24x7 team on call rotation
  • Willingness to travel to data center/network sites as needed
