AWS Infrastructure Services is seeking a Network Development Engineer to join their Network Fabric Engineering (NFE) team within Core Networking. This role is crucial in building, deploying, and scaling Amazon networks that support AWS across multiple global datacenters. The position focuses on delivering simple, sustainable, and repeatable solutions for next-generation IP networks.

As part of the Availability, Routing and Compliance (ARC) team, you'll be responsible for ensuring network security compliance and maintaining optimal performance during both planned and unplanned events. You'll work with diverse teams of software, hardware, and network engineers, collaborating on challenging problems that impact global infrastructure.

The role combines hands-on technical work with strategic thinking, requiring expertise in network operations, Unix systems, and automation. You'll be involved in everything from creating network changes to leading complex projects in network sustaining engineering and optimization. The position includes participating in a 24x7 on-call rotation and working closely with various engineering teams to ensure smooth deployment of new designs and products.

  • Create and implement changes on the network
  • Work with automation teams in defining scaling tools
  • Lead network projects in sustaining engineering, deployment, and optimization
  • Sustain AWS next generation networks for significant customers
  • Operate and troubleshoot network routing and configurations issues
  • Drive innovation from Top of Rack to the Network Border
  • Maintain networking standards and ensure compliance

Requirements For Network Development Engineer, CLOS Fabric Engineering - Availability, Routing and Compliance

  • 4+ years experience in network focused hands-on technical role with IP routing protocols/technologies
  • 4+ years experience developing engineering, deployment, or operations mechanisms
  • 4+ years experience in technical on-call capacity
  • 1+ years of experience in automation via Bash/shell scripting and Perl/Python programming
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking, IP routing, Server Load Balancing, and Network Security architecture
  • Experience with router, server load balancer, and firewall vendor platforms
