Description For Systems Engineer, ESC Managed Operations

AWS is launching its first European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), a groundbreaking initiative in utility computing. This role is part of the AWS Managed Operations team, focusing on building and leading operations for high-availability AWS services including EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock exclusively for EU customers. The position involves working with global AWS teams to shape the future of AWS services while ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

The role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering, requiring expertise in cloud systems, automation, and operations. You'll be responsible for maintaining and improving critical infrastructure, participating in on-call rotations, and ensuring service excellence for EU customers. Responsibilities For Systems Engineer, ESC Managed Operations

  • Oversee the launch of the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) in 2025
  • Work with global AWS teams to influence AWS services and technology evolution
  • Collaborate with technology leaders to improve day-to-day operations
  • Ensure improvements in availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency of the ESC
  • Participate in on-call rotations for incident resolution
  • Support development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, IoT, Platform, and Productivity Apps services
  • Review operational health of services
  • Identify anomalies and create bug reports
  • Provide feedback on change management documents

Requirements For Systems Engineer, ESC Managed Operations
