Description For Systems Engineer, Managed Operations

AWS is launching its first European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), a groundbreaking initiative in Utility Computing. As a Systems Engineer in the AWS Managed Operations team, you'll be at the forefront of building and leading operations for high-availability AWS services like EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock, specifically for EU customers. This role combines technical expertise with leadership, as you'll work on the ESC launch in 2025, collaborate with global AWS teams, and drive service improvements.

Your daily responsibilities will span from reviewing operational health and troubleshooting to developing solutions and mentoring team members. You'll be part of AWS Utility Computing (UC), which provides foundational services and continuous innovations in cloud computing. The position requires strong systems engineering background, with opportunities to work on critical infrastructure and influence the evolution of AWS services.

Requirements For Systems Engineer, Managed Operations

  • 5+ years of systems engineering experience, working with hardware, software, networking, operating systems
  • Proficient leading the creation, revision, and improvement of standard operational procedures (SOPs)
  • Proficient driving operational best practices
  • Proficient scripting processes in a language such as Bash, Python, or Ruby
  • Proficient troubleshooting and anticipating problems that affect the performance, reliability, or availability of software systems
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Must have legal right to work in Germany
