Description For Build Engineer (Italy based)

Axelera AI is an innovative deep-tech startup revolutionizing the AI platform landscape. With $120 million in funding and a team of 180+ employees (including 55+ PhDs with 40,000+ citations), they're developing the Metis™ AI Platform that achieves 3-5x increase in efficiency and performance.

The Build Engineer role is crucial for maintaining and improving software build and release processes. You'll work with a novel software stack that enables AI developers to transform Machine Learning models into optimized machine code for Axelera's hardware platform. The position involves collaborating with software developers, DevOps engineers, and cross-functional teams to streamline the build and release pipeline.

Key responsibilities include developing build automation pipelines using Make, Ninja, CMake, and other tools, packaging software into RPM and Debian formats, implementing build systems for C/C++ components and Python packages, managing version control systems, and working with containerization technologies. You'll also be involved in SDK image production, CI/CD architecture, and release infrastructure development.

The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, strong programming skills in Python and Shell scripting, experience with build automation tools, and proficiency in various build systems and packaging tools. Responsibilities For Build Engineer (Italy based)

  • Develop and maintain build and release automation pipelines
  • Package software into RPM and Debian formats
  • Implement build systems for C/C++ components and Python packages
  • Manage version control systems and code repositories
  • Collaborate with DevOps team on deployment processes
  • Configure Yocto or Buildroot for SDK images
  • Prototype SDK images using image building tools
  • Interact with CI team on architecture
  • Cache intermediate build artifacts
  • Define SDK release artifacts
  • Architect release flow and CI/CD build and test flows
  • Define release infrastructure and SDK package hosting tools

Requirements For Build Engineer (Italy based)

  • Experience as a Build Engineer or similar role
  • Strong programming and scripting skills (Python, Shell, Bash)
  • Proficiency in version control systems, especially Git

  • Experience with Python package build systems and packaging
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies
  • Experience with Make, Ninja, CMake, Bazel, Meson, RPM, and Debian packaging
