Description For Sr. IP Network Engineer

Bandwidth (NASDAQ: BAND) is a global communications software company that helps enterprises connect people around the world with cloud-ready voice, messaging and emergency services. As an IP Network Engineer at Bandwidth, you will work on projects supporting and enhancing a highly resilient global network. You'll work with network technologies from multiple vendors including Cisco, Palo Alto, Ribbon, and Juniper to help Bandwidth continue to strengthen our network infrastructure with improved architectures, tooling, and automation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Troubleshooting network issues (route / switch / firewall / vpn)
  • Supporting the evaluation, development, and testing of tools to strengthen Bandwidth's global IP Network
  • Researching and implementing designs for data center and WAN network architectures
  • Performing routine maintenance tasks and after-hours maintenance
  • Working directly with internal and external customers
  • Participating in an on-call schedule for off-hours network emergencies

Requirements:

  • 7 years of experience in IP networking
  • Deep understanding of OSPF, BGP, VXLAN/EVPN, Spanning Tree, MPLS, and IPSEC
  • Experience with Cisco ASR, Cisco Nexus, Palo Alto, Juniper MX, and Juniper SRX
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with Layers 1, 2, 3, and 4 of the OSI model
  • Comfortable operating in a Linux environment

Responsibilities For Sr. IP Network Engineer

  • Troubleshoot network issues (route / switch / firewall / vpn), diagnose problems, and implement solutions
  • Support the evaluation, development, and testing of tools to strengthen Bandwidth's global IP Network
  • Research, provide recommendations, and implement designs for data center and WAN network architectures
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as software updates, hardware upgrades, and system checks
  • Work directly with internal and external customers to ensure needs are met effectively
  • Participate in an on-call schedule for off-hours network emergencies
  • Perform after-hours maintenance as required for production changes

Requirements For Sr. IP Network Engineer

Linux
  • 7 years experience in IP networking
  • Experience with service provider grade network equipment (Cisco ASR, Cisco Nexus, Palo Alto, Juniper MX, Juniper SRX)
  • Deep understanding of OSPF, BGP, VXLAN/EVPN, Spanning Tree, MPLS, and IPSEC
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with Layers 1, 2, 3, and 4 of the OSI model
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to function independently on tasks and project work
  • Comfortable operating in a Linux environment
