Description For Production Engineer

Barbaricum is a rapidly growing government contractor focused on Defense and National Security missions. Founded in 2008, they provide support across Intelligence, Analytics, Engineering, Mission Support, and Communications disciplines. The company is headquartered in Washington, DC, with additional offices in Tampa, FL, Bedford, IN, and Dayton, OH.

The Production Engineer role is in support of the Program Executive Office Ground Combat Systems (PEO GCS). Key responsibilities include:

  1. Planning, engineering, and managing production activities
  2. Developing and implementing production strategies
  3. Advising on production readiness
  4. Coordinating with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and product quality
  5. Assessing production impacts of changes
  6. Providing recommendations for mitigating risks and improving producibility

Specific duties involve:

  • Reducing non-conformance risks in production
  • Advising on system design stability for production
  • Ensuring resources are in place to meet production schedules
  • Participating in Production Integrated Product Teams
  • Assessing impact of Requests for Variance on production
  • Performing Production Reviews of Engineering Change Proposals

Responsibilities For Production Engineer

  • Reduce the risk of non-conformance to requirements throughout the production process
  • Advise on the stability and completeness of system designs for production readiness
  • Ensure facilities, equipment, tooling, test equipment, materials, and manufacturing skills are in place to meet production schedules
  • Serve as a member of Production Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and act as a non-voting advisor to Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings
  • Assess and advise on the impact of Requests for Variance (RFV) on production
  • Update the Configuration Control Board on the status of outstanding RFVs and the number addressed by Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs)
  • Perform and report on Production Reviews of assigned ECPs, including review of 2D drawing revisions and producibility enhancements
  • Verify completeness, correctness, and traceability of changes to approved RFVs

Requirements For Production Engineer

  • Secret Security Clearance
  • Bachelor's Degree from an ABET accredited program in Engineering or Five years of relevant production/supply chain experience in automotive or defense industry
  • Minimum total of five years experience in production, manufacturing, and supply chain management within the DoD or Automotive Industries
  • Experience supporting the US Army or DoD is preferred including working with/on tracked or wheeled ground combat vehicles in military or civilian capacity
