Description For System Engineer III

Beacon Biosignals is revolutionizing precision medicine for the brain through their FDA 510(k)-cleared Dreem EEG headband and AI algorithms. As a System Engineer III, you'll join their Device Team, reporting to the VP of Device Systems, focusing on developing new and modified EEG device systems. The role combines hardware expertise with system engineering, requiring collaboration across hardware, firmware, software, and product teams.

Your responsibilities will span the entire product lifecycle, from concept to commercialization, including system requirements, verification, risk management, and manufacturing validation. You'll work with a database containing EEG data from nearly 100,000 patients and contribute to their cloud-native analytics platform.

The position offers flexibility with robust asynchronous work practices for remote work, plus office hubs in Boston, New York, and Paris. You'll be crucial in ensuring product quality and reliability, working with cross-functional teams on product idealization, development, integration verification, and manufacturing.

The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, experience with technical documentation, and proficiency in tools like Git, JIRA, and Python. Responsibilities For System Engineer III

  • Develop and maintain device development in accordance with Beacon's QMS
  • Apply systems engineering principles and best practices to new product development
  • Elicit, analyze and document system and sub-system requirements
  • Implement verification and validation with proper traceability
  • Contribute to risk management including hazard analysis
  • Interface with product management, algorithm development team and platform team
  • Support and write technical and process related documents
  • Support transition of device from development to production

Requirements For System Engineer III

Python
  • BS in engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of professional engineering experience with BS degree or 3+ years with MS degree
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with writing detailed technical specifications and documentation
  • Experience with troubleshooting, debugging, and root cause analysis
  • Experience with tools like Git/JIRA/Confluence and GitHub
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python
  • Knowledge of design controls and regulations for medical devices (preferred)
