Description For Data Engineer

At Better Debt Solutions, we're seeking a Data Engineer to play a crucial role in expanding and optimizing our data architecture. This position involves building robust data pipelines and ensuring efficient data flow across the organization. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled data pipeline builder who excels at optimizing systems and building them from the ground up.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and maintaining scalable data infrastructure and automation pipelines for ETL processes
  • Developing efficient data models, workflows, and pipelines
  • Partnering with various teams to understand business needs and develop innovative data solutions
  • Supporting data processing and reporting on AWS cloud-based platforms
  • Leading efforts to normalize and govern data across the organization
  • Troubleshooting and resolving critical issues in production
  • Creating and optimizing custom queries for Tableau and Looker
  • Building and maintaining Python-based ETL workflows with tools like Airflow
  • Spearheading the migration from legacy systems to a modern cloud-based data lake

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of progressive technical experience in Data engineering
  • Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Experience with AWS services (Redshift, S3, Glue, Kinesis, Lambda)
  • Skills in schema design, dimensional modeling, and data mart creation
  • Proficiency in Airflow for managing ETL workflows
  • Experience with both relational and non-relational databases
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders
