Description For Electrical Shift Maintenance Engineer

Biffa Waste Services is seeking an Electrical Shift Maintenance Engineer for their Rotherham, England location. This full-time role offers a salary of £46,285.20 per annum with a four on four off shift pattern (days and nights) and overtime paid at 1.5 times.

The successful candidate will be responsible for electrical maintenance inspections and routine repairs across all areas of the site, ensuring reliability, safety, and minimizing downtime on critical assets. Key responsibilities include:

  • Diagnosing and repairing running faults efficiently
  • Conducting planned and reactive maintenance
  • Carrying out plant upgrades and modifications
  • Reporting through computerized maintenance management systems
  • Developing and implementing preventative maintenance programs
  • Anticipating machine failures and recommending solutions
  • Ensuring SHEQ standards are maintained
  • Driving a culture of employee motivation and commitment
  • Assisting in identifying annual lifecycle requirements and capital applications

The ideal candidate should be fit and active, as the role involves working in enclosed/restricted spaces and at heights. Essential qualifications include:

  • Recognized Apprenticeship or Electrical bias Multi-Skilled Engineer qualifications (ONC/BTEC NVQ 3 discipline level)
  • BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulation Qualifications
  • Experience with single and 3-phase AC and DC systems
  • IT literacy and comfort with business software and systems
  • Full UK driving license and living within a 20-mile radius of the site
  • Experience in an FMCG-type environment

  • Reporting through computerised maintenance management system
  • Development and implementation of planned preventative maintenance and inspection programs
  • Anticipating machine failures and making recommendations to prevent reoccurrence
  • Ensuring SHEQ standards are strictly maintained

  • Proactive approach to fault finding and continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements For Electrical Shift Maintenance Engineer

  • Fit & active - able to work in enclosed/restricted spaces and at heights
  • Recognised Apprenticeship or Electrical bias Multi Skilled Engineer qualifications (ONC/BTEC NVQ 3 discipline level)
  • BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulation Qualifications
  • Experience working on single and 3-phase AC and DC systems
  • Waste Processing equipment knowledge (preferable)
  • IT literate - comfortable using business software and systems
  • Full UK car driving licence
  • Live within a 20-mile radius of site
  • Experience of FMCG type environment
