Description For Maintenance Engineer

Biffa Waste Services is seeking a Maintenance Engineer for their Oldbury location in West Birmingham. The role involves efficiently carrying out preventive and reactive maintenance, examination, and fault finding on plant and equipment in a hazardous waste site. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing high operational availability and efficient breakdown repair service
  • Carrying out installation work to required standards
  • Implementing planned preventative maintenance programs
  • Liaising with external contractors on specific repairs/maintenance work
  • Ensuring compliance with health & safety and environmental legislation
  • Reviewing maintenance activities and implementing corrective actions

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Engineering qualifications NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
  • Mechanical, Electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic qualifications
  • Minimum of 2-years' experience as Maintenance Engineer or similar role
  • Proven track record of working to clearly defined KPIs

Responsibilities For Maintenance Engineer

  • Provide high operational availability, and an efficient breakdown repair service
  • Carry out installation work to the required standards
  • Develop and implement a programme of planned preventative maintenance and inspection
  • Carry out minor maintenance operations to plant and equipment
  • Liaise with external contractors on specific repairs/maintenance work
  • Ensure compliance with all Company policies, processes and procedures
  • Review maintenance activities, implementing necessary corrective actions as required

Requirements For Maintenance Engineer

  • Engineering qualifications NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
  • Mechanical, Electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic qualifications
  • Minimum of 2-years' experience as Maintenance Engineer or position of similar responsibility in similar environment
  • Proven track record of working to clearly defined KPI's
