Description For Mechanical Maintenance Shift Engineer

Biffa Waste Services is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Shift Engineer to join their team in a four on, four off shift pattern (6am-6pm/6pm-6am). The role is integral to the maintenance team, emphasizing a safety-first approach while supporting the Condition Based Maintenance programme. The position combines latest technology with industry-leading practices to implement efficiency and sustainability aligned with company values. The engineer will be responsible for executing planned maintenance activities, providing technical feedback, and ensuring system improvements. Responsibilities For Mechanical Maintenance Shift Engineer

  • Maintain maintenance document and drawings to ensure legal compliance
  • Use SCADA and HMI to determine process condition(s) and aid in fault finding
  • Report poor maintenance practices and deviations from Renewi Maintenance Management Framework
  • Use CMMS system for maintenance services delivery and resource recording
  • Assist in mechanical plant upgrades
  • Support delivery of Condition Based Maintenance programme

Requirements For Mechanical Maintenance Shift Engineer

Linux
  • Strong fault diagnosis and rectification skills
  • Ability to read PIDs and mechanical schematics including pneumatics and hydraulics
  • Good working knowledge of rotating machinery, shaft alignment, machinery mounting, service equipment, conveying systems, pneumatics, and hydraulics
  • Competent in use of machine tools and hand tools
  • Excellent understanding of health, safety, and environmental compliance
  • Working knowledge of PTW and LOTO systems
