Description For Mechanical Maintenance Shift Engineer

Biffa Waste Services is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Shift Engineer to join their team. This role is part of an established maintenance team, focusing on driving a safety-first mentality while supporting the delivery of the Condition Based Maintenance programme. The engineer will work to ensure the latest technology is coupled with industry-leading practices to implement efficiency and sustainability in line with company values.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining maintenance documents and drawings to ensure legal compliance
  • Using SCADA and HMI to determine process conditions and aid in fault finding
  • Reporting poor maintenance practices and deviations from the Renewi Maintenance Management Framework
  • Using the CMMS system for maintenance services delivery and resource recording
  • Assisting in mechanical plant upgrades

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong fault diagnosis and rectification skills
  • Ability to read and understand PIDs and mechanical schematics
  • Good working knowledge of rotating machinery, shaft alignment, and various systems
  • Competence in using machine tools and hand tools
  • Excellent understanding of health, safety, and environmental compliance
  • Working knowledge of PTW and LOTO systems

This is a full-time, on-site position in the Engineering department, working four on, four off shifts (6am-6pm/6pm-6am).
