Bixal, a consulting company based in Fairfax, VA, is seeking a Full Stack Engineer to join their team in developing and maintaining the VA.gov platform and VA Health & Benefits mobile app. This role focuses on creating accessible, scalable, and secure government digital services. The position involves working with modern technologies like React, Node.js, and TypeScript to build full-stack applications that serve veterans and their families.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in both frontend and backend development, with experience in accessibility standards and cloud services. You'll be part of an agile team working remotely, collaborating with designers, UX researchers, and other engineers to deliver high-quality solutions. Responsibilities For Full Stack Engineer

  • Develop and maintain full-stack applications that support the VA Design System and Forms Library
  • Build and optimize React-based front-end components that align with USWDS and VADS standards
  • Implement RESTful APIs and microservices to support scalable and reusable back-end functionality
  • Ensure performance, security, and accessibility compliance
  • Maintain and optimize infrastructure on AWS or other cloud environments
  • Collaborate with designers, UX researchers, and engineers in an agile environment
  • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing

  • Bachelor's degree plus three years of relevant experience
  • Experience in full-stack software development

  • Familiarity with API development and authentication
  • Knowledge of cloud services, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization
  • Experience working with federal web accessibility standards
