Senior Software Engineer

Bixal is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Program Engineering Lead and the product delivery team to maintain sufficient engineering staffing and quality deliverables. This role requires strong technical expertise and leadership to guide the development team through complex projects.

Key responsibilities include:

• Coordinating with the Program Engineering Lead and product delivery team
• Supporting development using technologies like Ruby on Rails, React, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Java, and Python
• Adhering to modern software development practices
• Ensuring architecturally sound engineering decisions
• Participating in software design meetings and architectural discussions
• Improving developer experience and onboarding processes
• Designing, developing, and deploying features for va.gov applications

The ideal candidate should have:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 5+ years of software development experience
• Proficiency in Ruby on Rails, React, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Java, Git, and Python
• Familiarity with agile development practices
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
