Description For Quality Engineer

Blackline Safety, a publicly-traded company (TSX: BLN), is seeking a Quality Engineer to join their growing team. This role supports manufacturing operations worldwide, focusing on circuit board manufacturing through to final assembly and service. The position requires expertise in quality control, process improvement, and manufacturing standards.

The ideal candidate will work closely with Manufacturing Engineering to monitor yields, implement quality control procedures, and drive sustainable improvements across multiple product lines. They will utilize various quality tools, lead investigations, and ensure product consistency and reliability.

Blackline Safety specializes in wirelessly connected safety products, monitoring personnel in various environments from populated areas to remote locations. Their products are designed to protect workers from falls, missed check-ins, man-downs, and exposure to explosive or toxic gas.

Responsibilities For Quality Engineer

  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering to monitor internal yield and aid in internal improvement projects
  • Monitor manufacturing processes to detect deviations from standard and quality issues
  • Collect and analyze data related to process performance and quality metrics
  • Implement and maintain quality control procedures and standards
  • Investigate and identify root cause for quality issues and develop corrective actions
  • Interface with Product Development to ensure new product quality meets requirements
  • Lead cross-functional investigations into product & process defects
  • Utilize quality tools to analyze non-conformances and propose solutions
  • Perform process audits
  • Develop control plans
  • Participate in change management reviews and perform audits
  • Review, accept/reject test set data and suitability

Requirements For Quality Engineer

  • Exceptional familiarity with industry quality acceptance standards and best practices
  • Strong project management, time management, and organizational skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Familiar with quality tools like SPC, Gage R&R, DOE, PFMEA, Control Plan, 8D
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English
  • Well-versed with MS Office suite
  • Experience with gas detection, PCBA manufacturing, injection molding, or metalwork (asset)
  • Familiarity with CAD systems (SolidWorks) is an asset
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (NetSuite) is an asset
  • Six Sigma accreditation and Lean Manufacturing experience are assets
  • Data acquisition and analysis experience using databases is an asset
