Description For Network Engineer II

Bottomline is seeking a Network Engineer II to join their team. This role is preferably based in the Pacific Time Zone to cover daily shifts ending at 5pm PDT. The Network Engineer II will be responsible for designing, implementing, troubleshooting, analyzing, and maintaining networks across the enterprise. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing support for routing, switching, security, and load balancing using technologies like Cisco, F5, Juniper, Palo Alto, Fortigate, and NetScout
  • Maintaining comprehensive documentation for implemented networks
  • Assisting with security audit discussions and addressing firewall-related questions
  • Performing analysis for performance and capacity
  • Identifying, diagnosing, and resolving network problems
  • Participating in a "follow the sun" on-call rotation as needed
  • Managing the entire lifecycle of work products
  • Proactively reporting on design deficiencies and operational risks

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting firewalls (Palo Alto, Juniper, Cisco ASA, Fortigate)
  • Switching and routing experience with OSPF and BGP
  • Experience supporting networks in a Data Center environment
  • Familiarity with SNMP monitoring tools

Additional desirable skills include:

  • Experience with F5 LTM and other Load Balancers
  • Site to Site VPN experience
  • Experience managing certificates
  • DNS experience
  • Network automation skills

Responsibilities For Network Engineer II

  • Provide support in all aspects of routing, switching, security, and load balancing using technologies including Cisco/F5/Juniper/Palo Alto/Fortigate/NetScout
  • Assist with maintaining comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks
  • Assist with security audit discussions and address any questions related to firewalls and other network equipment
  • Perform analysis for performance and capacity
  • Identify diagnoses and resolves network problems (alerts and trouble tickets)
  • Participate in a "follow the sun" on-call rotation as needed
  • Manage responsibility for the entire lifecycle of their work product (e.g. development, test, production, and subsequent fixes and improvements)
  • Proactively and consistently raise and report on design deficiencies and product/operational/project risks

Requirements For Network Engineer II

Linux
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting Firewalls: Palo Alto, Juniper, Cisco ASA, Fortigate (2 out of 4 would be a must have)
  • Switching and Routing experience OSPF and BGP: must have
  • Experience supporting networks in a Data Center : must have (not Corporate IT background)
  • Experience with SNMP monitoring tools
