The role focuses on telecom infrastructure design and engineering, requiring expertise in AutoCAD, GIS, and various engineering tools. You'll be responsible for creating and modifying detailed drawings for outside plant facilities, including conduit, fiber optic, and copper cables installations. The position involves significant interaction with municipalities, engineers, and construction teams.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with telecom design experience who enjoys technical drawing and infrastructure planning. You'll work on critical projects involving both aerial and underground utilities, requiring strong attention to detail and knowledge of industry standards. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of telecom design experience or relevant education, strong technical skills in CAD and GIS tools, and excellent communication abilities. Responsibilities For OSP Engineer
- Create and modify detailed drawings using CAD and QGIS tools
- Create and contribute to high-level design for outside plant facilities
- Check drawings and system inputs for correctness
- Design and layer outside plant facilities in AutoCAD and GIS
- Assist in planning and analysis of construction or removal of network structures
- Interact with municipalities and engineers for records and maps
- Review site surveys and develop engineering design drawings
- Complete pole loading, bonding & grounding and anchoring analysis
- Request and obtain various permits from authorities
Requirements For OSP Engineer
- Proficient in AutoCAD, ARAMIS, GIS, O-Calc and IQGeo engineering tools
- Telco engineering and design experience
- Fundamental knowledge of outside plant facilities
- 2 years or more of telecom design experience or associate/bachelor's degree in related field
- Understanding of outside plant telecom industry and utilities
- Knowledge of city, county, state permits and regulations
- Proficient in MS Office
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Must be self-motivated and self-starter
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs
- Strong eyesight with normal color perception
