Description For Equipment Engineer

Broadcom's Optical Systems Division (OSD) in Breinigsville, PA is seeking an Equipment Engineer for their high-volume, 24/7 manufacturing facility. This role involves working with photolithography, epitaxy, dry etch, wet etch, and thin-film deposition for indium phosphide laser and detector device manufacturing. The facility, originally established by AT&T's Bell Laboratories, is now integral to Broadcom's semiconductor operations. The position offers comprehensive benefits and competitive compensation. Responsibilities For Equipment Engineer

  • Provide technical leadership in identifying, evaluating, installing, improving, and maintaining equipment
  • Select, accept, and start up new equipment; optimize hardware and software
  • Upgrade existing equipment and provide qualification support
  • Develop and implement preventative, predictive, and high-precision maintenance procedures
  • Lead projects to develop/qualify new processes and tools
  • Collaborate with Process Engineering, Equipment Maintenance, and Manufacturing Operations
  • Implement robust monitoring methodologies
  • Serve as active member of Hazmat and Medical Emergency Response Team

Requirements For Equipment Engineer

  • BS in ME, EE, or related field and 5+ years of experience or Master's degree and 3+ years of experience
  • Experience with fab equipment – vacuum, RF, robotics, and high purity gas systems
  • Detail-oriented with strong fundamentals in core equipment engineering
  • Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Working knowledge of SPC, DOE, and statistical hypothesis testing
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Legal authorization to work in the US
  • Experience in compound semiconductor manufacturing environment preferred
