Description For Google Cloud Platform Architect

Broadcom is seeking a Google Cloud Platform Architect to work in their FinTech division, which provides electronic payments and banking solutions in SaaS using AI/ML to determine risk. This senior role requires a minimum of 12 years of experience in cloud architecture, with at least 8 years focused on GCP.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud-based solutions on the Google Cloud Platform to meet the strategic needs of the organization. They will contribute to standards, processes, automation, and operational excellence initiatives, while being customer-centric and enjoying building, operating, and improving SaaS ecosystems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing, delivering, and refining cloud services across IaaS and PaaS GCP services
  • Researching and identifying the right tools and technology stack based on scalability, latency, and performance needs
  • Assessing technical feasibility through rapid PoCs and finding technological solutions for gaps
  • Working with various GCP services including networking, IAM, organization structure, security, monitoring, logging, compute, storage, and caching solutions
  • Automating deployment processes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools
  • Creating or contributing to IaC CI/CD pipelines following DevOps practices
  • Ensuring cloud solutions adhere to security best practices and compliance requirements
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams and participating in customer/internal architecture discussions

The role requires proficiency in programming/scripting languages such as Python, Go, or similar, as well as extensive experience with Kubernetes, modern DevOps tools, and practices. The candidate should be well-versed in transitioning teams from legacy to modern architecture in production and able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities For Google Cloud Platform Architect

  • Design, deliver and refine cloud services consumed across IaaS, and PaaS GCP services
  • Research and identify the right tools and technology stack based on scalability, latency, and performance needs
  • Assess technical feasibility by building rapid PoCs, and finding technological solutions for gaps
  • Automate deployment processes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools
  • Create or contribute to IaC CI/CD pipelines following DevOps practices
  • Ensure cloud solutions adhere to security best practices and compliance requirements
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to cloud infrastructure and services
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust cloud solutions
  • Prepare and present regular reports on cloud infrastructure status, performance, and improvements
  • Collaborate with cloud vendors, customers, and internal teams for delivery
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and willingness to participate in escalated issues as required

Requirements For Google Cloud Platform Architect

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in cloud architecture, with at least 8 years focused on GCP
  • 5+ years of experience working in a Kubernetes environment
  • 5+ years of experience directly building Kubernetes deployments, using Helm Charts leveraging rollout methodologies such as A/B, Blue Green, and/or Canary
  • 5+ years of experience with modern DevOps tools and practices including Git, Jenkins, automated testing, continuous integration, and continuous deployment
  • 5+ years of experience with mission-critical production ecosystems
  • 5+ years of experience analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale, distributed production systems
  • Proficiency with programming/scripting languages such as Python, Go, or similar
  • Strong knowledge of networking concepts, including VPC, subnetting, VPN, DNS, and load balancing
  • Deep understanding of GCP services including Kubernetes Engine, Compute Engine, App Engine, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, and others
