Description For Sr. Hardware System Design Engineer

Broadcom's Core Switching Group (CSG) is seeking a Senior Hardware System Design Engineer to join their team developing large and integrated system-on-chip (SoC) devices. The role focuses on designing Silicon validation, reference, and production boards using cutting-edge Broadcom SOCs. The position offers comprehensive involvement in hardware development from concept to production, emphasizing system design, schematics, PCB layout, and board bring-up.

The ideal candidate will lead complex PCB system designs, implement high-speed SERDES channels, and oversee power systems design. This role requires extensive collaboration with cross-functional teams and provides technical leadership to suppliers. Responsibilities For Sr. Hardware System Design Engineer

  • Lead the development of complex PCB system designs, from specification to compliance testing
  • Drive the implementation of high-speed SERDES channels (50/100G and above) and high-density BGA pin layouts
  • Oversee the design and implementation of high-power, low-noise analog power systems, DDR interfaces
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including ASIC, SI, PI, DVT, Sysops, Software, AE, and Mechanical/Thermal
  • Provide technical leadership and support to ODMs, OEMs, and PCB/PCA suppliers
  • Utilize advanced tools and techniques for signal integrity and power integrity analysis

Requirements For Sr. Hardware System Design Engineer

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with 12+/10+ years of related experience
  • 8-10 years of proven experience as a Hardware Systems Design Engineer
  • Expertise in PCB design tools such as DxDesigner/OrCad and Cadence Allegro
  • Strong understanding of power integrity concepts, signal integrity principles, and high-speed board design methodologies
  • Proficiency in system bring-up, characterization, and debugging of complex embedded systems
  • Familiarity with interfaces such as PCIe, DDR, USB, SPI, and I2C
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
