Broadcom, a global technology leader in semiconductor and infrastructure software solutions, is seeking a Staff User Interface Engineer for their VMware vDefend product portfolio within the Application Networking and Security Division. This is a technical leadership position based in the San Francisco Bay Area, requiring in-person work at the Broadcom Palo Alto campus.
The role demands an experienced frontend engineer who can drive technical design discussions, decisions, and planning while leading UI engineering initiatives. You'll be working on critical network security products including VMware vDefend Distributed Firewall, Advanced Threat Prevention, and Gateway Firewall solutions. The position requires deep expertise in browser technologies and pixel-perfect design implementation.
As a staff engineer, you'll have the opportunity to shape the future of network security products through world-class user interfaces. Responsibilities For Staff User Interface Engineer
- Drive in the design, development, document of client-side architecture initiatives and product feature development life cycles
- Drive the process of developing user models, prototyping and crafting user interfaces
- Build simple-to-use interfaces for a complex Network & Security solutions
- Adapt and apply new technologies, best design practices and usability patterns
- Collaborate with UX Designers, Product Managers, Technical Architects, and cross-functional Engineering teams
- Lead team through solving customer reported problems
- Advocate for usability and quality of our products
- Be an innovator and coach, mentor others to innovate
Requirements For Staff User Interface Engineer
- Solid background in OOP, modern browser-based, pixel-perfect UI for cloud-scale applications
- Expert level in UI development and public API design for large scale software system
- Strong sense of product usability, as user advocate
- Strong organization and task management skills
- Previous successes with leading projects involving cross-functional teams
- Ability to quickly identify risks, recommend avoidances, and handle known risks
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Bachelors in Computer Science/Engineering with 8+ years experience or Masters with 6+ years experience
