Description For Technical Support Engineer

Broadcom, a global technology leader in semiconductor and infrastructure software solutions, is seeking a Technical Support Engineer for their VeloCloud SD-WAN team. This role combines networking expertise with customer support to help elite customers overcome their networking challenges. The position requires in-depth networking and security knowledge to support customers, implement best practices, create knowledge base content, and handle technical escalations.

The role involves working with a globally distributed team of highly competent engineers, focusing on resolving complex technical issues and ensuring customer satisfaction. You'll be responsible for analyzing network configurations, troubleshooting performance issues, and creating technical documentation. The position requires hands-on experience with various networking technologies, including TCP/IP, routing protocols, and WAN optimization.

As a Technical Support Engineer, you'll work full-time from Broadcom's corporate office in Chennai, following a Monday through Friday schedule with occasional weekend or overnight hours and on-call responsibilities. The ideal candidate should have 5+ years of TAC experience, strong Linux skills, and networking expertise. Knowledge of SD-WAN technologies, particularly VeloCloud, is highly valuable.

Responsibilities For Technical Support Engineer

  • Resolve customer technical issues and support team operations
  • Work with support engineers, sales engineers, and customers to understand network configurations and problems
  • Conduct log analysis, reproduction work and engage external and internal resources
  • Create knowledge articles for global circulation
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues using labs, logs bundles and knowledge base
  • Debug and resolve network performance issues
  • Analyze network traffic and packet captures
  • Reproduce customer reported issues in lab environment

Requirements For Technical Support Engineer

Linux
MySQL
  • 5+ years experience in Support/Technical Assistance Center (TAC)
  • Linux troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with TCP/IP stack, QoS, WAN optimization
  • Expertise in network topologies and configurations
  • Knowledge of dynamic routing protocols (BGP & OSPF)
  • Experience with JSON, API, and MySQL
  • CCNP or equivalent certification preferred
  • VeloCloud SDWAN certifications advantageous
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
