Canonical is seeking a MAAS QA Labs Hardware Engineer to manage and operate our lab in the Toronto area. This role involves deploying and configuring servers and network switches, maintaining hardware inventory, and collaborating with various teams to support Ubuntu server certification.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a fully automated server lab with cutting-edge server and network silicon
- Maintain accurate inventory and layout of data centre hardware
- Install and configure new hardware
- Use Python to enhance software-driven operations
- Improve hardware and network monitoring through automation
- Collaborate with MAAS engineers, kernel engineers, and other teams
Requirements:
- STEM Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science or Software Engineering
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Data centre experience
- Linux Administration experience
- Python programming experience
- Strong communication skills in English
- Ability to work with a globally distributed team
- Willingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events
This hybrid role requires regular presence in Toronto, with 4-6 visits to the lab per month.
