Cloud Platform Engineer

Captivation Software is seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer with expertise in AWS, Python programming, and a strong Linux foundation. The role involves developing custom software components and integrating open-source code to address complex time series analysis problems using cutting-edge Big Data / Cloud technology. The ideal candidate should be a strong systems integrator capable of enhancing, optimizing, and increasing the robustness of existing code bases. Experience with infrastructure as code and modern tools for defining, building, and managing virtual infrastructure in the cloud is essential. The position requires designing and implementing core architecture and capabilities for software from prototype to operational applications. This is a hybrid role with some work on-site in San Antonio, TX.

Key responsibilities include:

• Identifying and solving problems autonomously while working towards broader strategic goals set by Architects
• Leveraging modern tools to define, build, and manage virtual infrastructure in the cloud
• Designing and implementing core architecture for software applications

Requirements:

• Current TS/SCI U.S. Government Security clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
• 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering or Software Development (Python or Java) with a Bachelor's degree in a related field, OR 3 years of experience with a Master's degree, OR 9 years of experience with a High School Diploma
• Experience developing infrastructure in AWS
• Solid understanding of Linux systems, hosts, networks, security, and proficiency in shell scripting
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work on-site in San Antonio, TX

Preferred qualifications include DoD 8140 / 8570 compliance certifications, experience with big data systems, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, agile methodologies, and various development tools.

Benefits include a competitive salary range of $130,000 - $270,000 (depending on experience), up to 20% 401k contribution (no matching required, vested from day one), $3,200 HSA contribution, 5 weeks paid time off, and comprehensive insurance coverage.
