Description For Data Engineer

Careem, the leading Everything App in the Middle East, is seeking a Data Engineer to join their dynamic team. Since 2012, Careem has revolutionized transportation, food delivery, and payment services across 70+ cities in 10 countries, impacting over 70 million customers and providing earnings for 2.5 million Captains.

As a Data Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of designing and maintaining the company's data infrastructure, working with cutting-edge technologies like Apache Spark, Hadoop, and cloud platforms. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to build robust data pipelines, implement data governance, and enable data-driven decision-making across the organization.

The role offers a unique blend of technical challenges and business impact, as you'll be responsible for handling large-scale data processing while ensuring data quality and accessibility. You'll work with modern data engineering tools and frameworks, contributing to the company's mission of simplifying and improving people's lives across the greater Middle East.

Responsibilities For Data Engineer

  • Design and develop scalable data pipelines and ETL processes
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements
  • Design and implement data models and database schemas
  • Optimize data pipelines for performance and efficiency
  • Monitor and resolve data quality and consistency issues
  • Implement data governance practices and policies
  • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts
  • Stay current with latest data engineering trends

Requirements For Data Engineer

Python
Java
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Experience as a Data Engineer with large-scale data processing and ETL pipelines
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala
  • Experience with Apache Spark
  • SQL and database technologies expertise
  • Experience with Hadoop, Hive and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Familiarity with Apache Airflow
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Attention to detail
