An excellent opportunity is open for a proactive Windows System Engineer to join this leading hedge fund and make an immediate impact on challenging infrastructure projects. The role involves driving automation, security, and efficiency across the IT infrastructure in a collaborative working environment.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on engineer who thrives in tackling complex technical tasks and is experienced with optimizing and supporting a highly available IT infrastructure. This role requires good technical and communication skills, as well as a passion for the latest technology. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of applied experience as a Windows Systems Engineer.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Deploying and supporting enterprise Windows Server 2012-2022 and Microsoft 365 solutions
  • Managing and optimizing the Windows server estate, focusing on on-prem and cloud infrastructure
  • Performing system maintenance and monitoring
  • Implementing and managing security platforms
  • Managing backup solutions
  • Collaborating on larger IT projects
  • Driving Windows-related projects to completion
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and best practices
  • Ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulations
  • Troubleshooting and resolving system issues

Requirements include experience in Financial Services, solid understanding of Active Directory Services and networking concepts, scripting skills, knowledge of AWS Infrastructure and Linux administration, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities For Windows System Engineer

  • Deploy and support enterprise Windows Server 2012-2022 and Microsoft 365 solutions
  • Manage and optimize the Windows server estate (on-prem and cloud infrastructure)
  • Perform system maintenance, applying patches and updates
  • Monitor system performance and proactively identify/resolve issues
  • Maintain detailed documentation of system setup and configuration
  • Implement and manage security platforms
  • Manage backup solutions
  • Work on larger IT projects (system upgrades, migrations, deployments)
  • Take ownership of ongoing Windows-related projects
  • Keep up to date with latest technologies and best practices
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues and outages

Requirements For Windows System Engineer

  • Previous experience working in Financial Services
  • Proven experience as a Windows System Administrator or similar role
  • Solid understanding of Active Directory Services (DNS/DHCP/FSMO/ADFS/SSO/ADCS)
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, LAN/WAN
  • Scripting skills (e.g. PowerShell, Batch scripting)
  • Good knowledge of AWS Infrastructure and Linux administration
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot systems issues and applications
  • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
  • Highly self-motivated with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Strong collaborative skills
  • Displays and operates at the highest degree of ethics and integrity
